Cloud End is one of the oldest estates in Mussoorie. The original bungalow was raised in the early colonial era by a British officer, Major Swetenham, who, as local legend has it, married the daughter of a local chief and named the house “Cloud End” after a peak near his family home in Wales. It was among the first grand houses on the western edge of the hill station, and for generations it remained with the Swetenham family.
After Independence, Cloud End became one of the first of these great Mussoorie estates to pass into Indian hands, acquired by the late Shri Durga Ram (D.R.) Agarwal, the first Indian owner of this private forest.
The estate later passed to his son, Diwaker Agarwal.
Spanning 100 acres of private pristine woodlands, Cloud's End is surrounded by thick Oak and Deodar forests, offering a wide variety of flora and fauna. It provides a panoramic view of the snow-clad Himalayas and the Yamuna River.
Diverse species of flora and fauna have taken shelter in this beautiful hillside. This place also offers activities like hill climbing and nature walks in the nearby forest. Situated within 304 kilometers of Delhi, about a 6-hour drive away, this private forest sanctuary sits at an altitude of over 7000 feet.
